Lady Lene finalist in the category Best Interior Design in the 2023 BOAT International Design & Innovation Awards

Carla Guilhem Design is delighted to announce that our flagship yachting project, the fully-custom, tri-deck Van der Valk explorer yacht Lady Lene, has been nominated in the category ‘Best Interior Design for Motor Yachts up to 499GT’ as part of the 2023 BOAT International Design & Innovation Awards.

As a studio, we are so proud to have been responsible for her custom interiors, which were created in close collaboration with the owner and his team – a repeat Van der Valk client who was represented by YachtCreators during the build.

A Work of Art Inside

Lady Lene’s Art Deco-inspired interiors are calming, sophisticated and totally unique. Alongside the vessel being fully wheelchair accessible, her interiors were designed with accessibility and ease of movement as a top priority: all floors in the yacht are flush, and the design is characterized by round corners and a lack of sharp edges and angles.

Carla Guilhem explains more: “My three words to describe the interiors of Lady Lene would be calm, welcoming and livable. The interiors do not interfere with the exterior design but work with it, and our idea was that the owner and family could feel comfortable living there for a long time.”

Areas of note on board Lady Lene include her large, airy saloon and dining area on the main deck, as well as her aft entertainment area which comes complete with numerous lounging and dining spaces. Accommodation is comprised of two owner’s cabins (one on the bridge deck, and one located midships on the lower deck) as well as two VIP cabins and a bunk for children on the lower deck. A crew of seven is also housed on board across four cabins.

For those looking to maintain a close connection with the ocean, Lady Lene also features a generous swim platform and bar, offering the ideal relaxation space for extended sea cruises.

The winners will be determined by an independent panel of judges and announced at the BOAT International Design & Innovation Awards, as part of the Superyacht Design Festival in February 2023.
