Its strategic location, perfect climate, top-notch infrastructure and vibrant lifestyle have stuck a chord among yachting enthusiasts seeking new adventures and Carla talked about the growing prominence of bespoke interior design for owners. As a leader in luxury furniture and the lifestyle segment, the Luxury Living Store in Miami was a perfect location to host this event which welcomed Bocconi and INSEAD alumni as well as industry professionals and people fascinated by the growth of yachting in Miami. The city is becoming such an important hub for the boating community. The $40 million renovation of Palm Beach expanded its yacht capacity by ten-fold and opened up lots of slips for large superyachts.

“Miami is a city that is on the up in every way, growing exponentially and attracting business as well as leisure facilities,” says Carla. “Yacht owners enjoy the privacy of berthing here and we see clients from places like New York and Boston who used to have an apartment in this part of the world increasingly buying a 30-to-40-meter boat to spend time with their family and no longer be restricted as to where they go.
“As a designer, I see how tastes are changing when it comes to enjoying more sophisticated interiors and a calm onboard ambience. This is precisely the custom-design market in which my office specializes and it was a pleasure to share my thoughts with such a learned audience.”
Bright future
With its proximity to the Caribbean and South America and access to the Atlantic, Miami offers the ideal starting point for exploring the region. The panel of experts delved into why its warm weather and calm waters, coupled with excellent marinas, yacht clubs and boatyards, cater to vessels of all sizes. The discussion was followed by a Networking Aperitif as attendees shared their thoughts on a bright future for this magic maritime city.
